Mike Hulbert - Underwriter

Mike joined Pantaenius after a career in construction and the offshore oil industry. The move into yacht insurance was intended to be a temporary one whilst the oil price recovered from one of its periodic dips. That was twenty years ago and Mike is still here. He began sailing in the early 70s when he moved to Plymouth and raced and cruised with friends from the Royal Western Yacht Club. In the late 70s he and a college chum sailed a small catamaran to the West Indies and where he spent a leisurely 3 years drifting between the islands. Mike now works as an underwriter with the New Business team and brings his first hand yachting experience to bear specialising in the more unusual risks; specialist vessels sailing to exotic locations often with adventurous owners.

In her twenty years at Pantaenius she has worked in all the departments but is now back in New Business where her heart belongs. Fiona’s day to day work is overseeing the New Business Department workflow, organising and attending shows and events, together with liaising with the company’s marketing and media contacts. Fiona assisted with the training of new staff down under in our Sydney office when it first opened in 2012.  Away from work Fiona enjoys swimming, travelling, cooking and socialising with friends and family.

Emma Dawes - New Business Executive

CERT CII

Emma has been sailing her whole life and started her career in the marine industry 6 years ago. Joining Pantaenius in 2013 she is now a key member of the Pantaenius New Business Team and is about to start working towards her CII Diploma.  As well as advising clients back at the office she is often one of the friendly Pantaenius faces you will see on our stand at boat show exhibitions. In her own time Emma loves the great outdoors and loves nothing more than walking the dog and riding her horse across Dartmoor.  She still enjoys sailing, even if it is a little more relaxing these days, in warmer climates and essentially with refreshments at the journey’s end.

James Campbell - Superyacht New Business Executive

James grew up sailing on the Norfolk Broads from a very early age. His father built him his first Optimist dinghy and since then James has sailed almost every conceivable type of boat, ranging from foiling International Moths to 150 foot classic schooners. Sailing grew as his passion and he moved into racing competitively.  The highlight of his successful international racing career came when he represented Great Britain in the 18 foot Skiff World Championships in Sydney Harbour.  After a few years working in the financial sector, James left the office behind to make a career out of sailing, initially starting out as a deckhand and progressing to a Superyacht Captain.  In his 10 years at sea on Superyachts he has cruised much of the world, entrusted with command of some truly magnificent Superyachts. Now with a young family he has moved ashore to settle down in South Devon.  Working for Pantaenius for the last 2 years James brings his wealth of first hand nautical experience to the team, sharing his insight into the challenges, risks and rewards experienced by our yacht owning clients and Captains. James is presently working towards his CII professional qualifications.  In his spare time James enjoys all water sports, fishing and tries to get some racing in the International Dragon class in when he has time.

Samantha Woodmansey - Superyacht New Business Executive

CERT CII

Samantha joined the Pantaenius New Business team in 2011 from a retail background. Her main focus is our Superyacht clients and those clients who employ professional crew aboard their yachts who therefore need additional cover for Employer’s Liability and crew risks.  Samantha’s role involves working with a range of brokers, yacht managers and captains as well as the owners themselves. Larger and more complex yachts inevitably require more complex insurance solutions and Samantha deploys her close attention to detail and strong administrative skills in advising on insurance requirements, issuing quotations and also in working closely with our Superyacht Customer Support team to ensure a smooth inward transition of new Superyacht clients. Samantha is currently making good progress towards attaining her CII Diploma in Insurance.  When she is not working or studying she certainly has a spirit of adventure with which yachting folk will identify and which she indulges with travelling and scuba diving.
