Our "Discover the Difference" document is an unbiased report that explains many of the issues surrounding the insurance of motor and sailing yachts and provides a clear explanation of some of the jargon which seems to go hand in hand with insurance policies.
It was developed as a response to the many queries raised by our clients and other yacht owners over the years and to the common misconception that all yacht insurance policies are the same. Given the variety of terms on offer it is important to ensure that you have the most appropriate cover at a fair premium. You will only know that you have the right cover if you have scrutinized the insurer’s conditions for each quotation you receive prior to incepting the contract. Checking the terms of your insurance policy should not be something you do when the claim form is sitting in front of you!
This document will help you make sense of the clauses which are often written in ‘insurance speak’. We hope that it will assist in any dialogue with your insurer and go some way to ensuring that buyers of yacht insurance are better informed consumers. You will find some key questions and issues that you should raise with your insurer when discussing a new or existing policy.
